Year 3. Session 3 Week 1.

The time finally came for the Children’s Business Fair! Ascent was filled with young entrepreneurs offering their very own products and services to the public at our one-day marketplace. The Eagles spent so much time developing their brand, manufacturing products, creating business plans, practicing pitches, and building marketing strategies in preparation for this big day. Let’s take a look…

In preparation for the Children’s Business Fair, the Eagles put on a Trade Show for their exhibition last session. This gave the Discovery entrepreneurs a chance to practice their pitches, display prototypes, and set up their booths. Feedback forms were used to help Eagles transform their booths to better meet customer needs at the Children’s Business Fair. Take a look at these booths to witness some of the business transformations!

As the cultural pendulum swings back, the Eagles continue to have discussions about ownership and responsibility as they enter into a new session. Let’s learn a little more about what they have been up to.

This session’s Word Play Quest not only helps Eagles understand how powerful words are, but also how they can create and harness that power. The Eagles began this quest by creating new words, playing word games, and developing semantic network fireworks.

Eagles in Trailhead Reading, Wordsmith, and Language Arts continued with Word World where they deepen the skills required to be excellent writers. This week was all about fun with words as they created and decoded secret messages, unscrambled words, and solved crossword puzzles. For those not in Word World, they became daring detectives in Writers’ Workshop where the focus is developing research skills through asking questions and finding answers. To learn more, ask your Writers’ Workshop Eagle about their mythbusters challenge or their game of 21 questions.

For PD the Eagles began harnessing the skills needed to play softball. To prepare, they focused on hand-eye coordination, body awareness, and how to work together as a team. In Civilization, the Eagles traveled to Europe and then visited a few emperors of India. What can your Eagle tell you about the Thirty Years War? For Artisan Quest, each Eagle is challenged to create a masterpiece using a medium of their choice.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended, advertised, supported, and volunteered at Ascent’s first annual Children’s Business Fair!
