Discovery Year 6. Session 6. Week 2.

Discoverers leaned into leadership opportunities while bringing focus and determination to their Work Cycle, Biology Quest, and Art goals.

WORK CYCLE

During the Work Cycle, Discovery learners made moves on their studio tracking game, Discovery Mountain. Learners unlocked freedoms, solved problems, and experienced the efforts of their work in the studio reflected on the game board. At the end of the week, the Studio joined together to celebrate learners reaching milestones in their learning journey and listened in on their reflections on the process of achieving their goals.

QUEST

In Quest, Heroes entered Maria Sibylla Merian’s life cycle laboratory. This week, biologists in Discovery planted seeds, observed caterpillars entering their cocoons, dissected flowers, sketched insects, and examined plants under microscopes. Learners also began experimenting with yeast to observe the living characteristics of fungi!

ART

In Art, Discoverers joined Explorers to launch a session-long art project: radio plays! Discovery and Explore artists learned about the history of plays broadcast via radio. This Session, Learners will work alongside fellow travelers to develop their unique concept for a radio play. Their prompt: retell a well-known folk tale; each group. Artists and actors got to work brainstorming ideas based on the prompt before creating characters and roles.
