Year 2. Session 7. Week 4.

The Eagles have been busy throughout the session thusfar. Follow along to see what they’ve been up to!

Session 7’s Quest is unique as it is solely led by learners! Growing Curiosity explores various domains that Eagles are interested in, with a new Eagle writing and leading Socratic Discussions and challenges for the topic they chose. So far this session this studio has delved into dinosaurs, animation, acting and advertising.

Writers’ Workshop and Word World offers the group an opportunity to cumulatively reflect on the year in the form of a “Year in Review” book. This week, explored the history of writing and practiced their own handwriting skills by reviewing some of their favorite “extra” activities from this year. They also reviewed their badge books from the year and chose a favorite to write about.

PD this session highlights a variety of different activities. Through the first few weeks, the Eagles explored soccer, kickball, relay races, obstacle courses, yoga, team games, and more!

Ms. Elena, a Spark guide, has shared her gifts and talents with the Discovery Eagles through her love of art. Each week the learners are introduced to a new artist and dig into what makes their art unique and special. They take this new knowledge and apply it to different activites throughout the week!

The journey throughout history continues for the group this session as well with some special help from two apprentice guides! Ms. Ava and Ms. Alani have chosen to spend this session visiting from Acton Main to dig deeper into guiding a learner-driven studio. They have fully taken on and embraced leading Civilization, providing a unique experience for the learners at Ascent!

As the Eagles sprint toward the finish line, opportunities for some extra fun have made their way into the weekly schedule. There have been impromptu dance parties, purchased free time using earned hero bucks, and weekly theme days on Fridays which have included Wacky Hair Day, Pajama Day, Keep Austin Weird Day and Favorite Book Character Day!
