For this badge, the learners wrote science-based fiction in the form of picture books related to Marine Science. They were challenged to include illustrations, practice showing vs telling, and include at least 10 facts woven into the story.
Throughout this session’s Marine Science quest, the learners completed research and hands-on challenges navigating topics from ocean currents and surface winds, to the biodiversity of coral reefs, adaptations and survival mechanisms of creatures dwelling in the deep ocean depths, and all the way to the interconnected web of the open ocean food chain!
The pandemic spread of the coronavirus led us to make the tough decision to move to Distance Learning beginning this week.
While the school week may have ended prematurely, the Ascent Discovery Eagles sure made the most out of their time spent in the studio!
Just like that, the Eagles are halfway through Session 5 – time flies when exploring all the oceans have to discover!
Week two kicked off with a visit from the Expedition School guides, launching the group into a discussion about the upcoming trip to Port Aransas at the end of the session!
